I'm still waiting for someone to explain how to remove the reside from Gaobot that blocks access to Norton antivirus and other sites. I HAVE REMOVED contents of HOSTS file to no avail!! There has to be some other fix. PLEASE! Someone out there must have the answer to this nagging problem.

Did you scroll WAY down in the HOSTS file? Typically it will write
about 3 pages of blank lines and then you'll find them way at the bottom!

I want to thank Menno Hershberger for the tip on how to get rid of Gaobot residue. He had the answer that nobody else had!! That is be sure to look all the way down in the Hosts file. I had looked at the first line of code, then I saw blank spaces and quit looking. The bad stuff was way on down near the end of the file.
