Games keep kicking me out... help plz?

Hi, I have a lil problem if anyone out there can help me
it would be hugely appreciated :)

Right, the issue I have is that I keep getting kicked out
of games (and only games at this point) when I actually
get into the main part of the game itself... Intro movies
run fine, as does other media, but the actual game itself
either boots me back to desktop or restarts my system
completely :/ This happens with every game.

I am running XP, an AMD Athlon 2600 processer, and Ge
Force FX 5200 graphics card, with a C-Media AC97 sound
device. My memory is definitly more then adequate, with
plenty of free space.

I have downloaded the newest drivers.
I have scanned for viruses.
I have tried using the troubleshooting options in windows.

All these havent worked.

Can anyone help me out with some ideas? Plz email me or
post here if u can.

GE Force cards tend to heat up quite a bit. Are all your fans working
properly? If your components are overheating, the computer shuts down to
prevent problems. Download a free copy of SpeedFan Gui off the internet and
see what the temperature is inside your box. I purchased a slot fan online
for 10.00 and my computer has cooled down to 66 degrees F. It has made a
real difference.
 
Okies I will try this, though would overheating be a
problem straight away? The games really do not seem to be
on long enough for overhearting to be a prob. Thx for the
tip, I will try anything at this point :)
