And Tony, what you said makes some sense...
There's at least one other person who's unable to play their game
after installing a security update. Perhaps there was a problem
during the installation of the update caused by antivirus software, etc.
Try Win XP's System Restore to return your system to a previously stable date:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/using/howto/gethelp/systemrestore.asp
Tip: Look for a date before you installed the updates and when the game worked.

| operating systems. Most of the "look" might be Win9x, but underneath a
| whole lot of Windows 2000 was brought forward. You're dealing with a much
