I had a Compaq 5030 computer and I used a Microsoft
Sidewinder force feedback pro Joy Stick for flying
aircraft (Flight symulator 2000) I now have a new
HP A376X computer, and it does not have the 15 pin port
for the joystick. I know they made a Gameport to USB port
Adapter. Where can I buy one and will my new HP and
Windows xp except it?

Hi

The game port should be on the sound card, try call HP for that

Not all sound cards have gameports

I know that Radio Shack was selling a USB to Gameport adapter.

Also, the Sidewinder software that came with your stick will/should not be
installed in XP. You can only use the built-in drivers for any gameport
devices.

I have the same problem. I bought the adapter at Radio Shack and it did nothin
to solve my problem. I have 5 controllers that are now useless

If you somehow find a solution can you please share? Thank

Rich, these gameport to USB adaptors will not work for your force feedback
device. This device uses the MIDI portion of the gameport to send the force
data to the device. I have yet to see an adaptor that works with a digital
device even. Most of the ones I have seen specifically state they are for
analog devices.
Slider, since you have a lot of devices you might want to invest in a good
sound card with a gameport. Both of you should be aware though that gameport
devices are obsolete. Like the ISA cards, at some point in the future they
won't even work at all.
