My computer crashed and I now have windows xp-home
edition. I have 2 game controllers. 1. sidewinder game pad
( designed for win 95,98) 2. sidewinder precision pro
joystick.( designed for win 98). The fellow I got the
computer from says that they will not work on xp.I have
the usb adapter.
Are they toast?
Thanks for any input.

Try looking at the manufacturers web-page for drivers for the xp operating
system....
or try this for the sidewinder.......

and this for the precision pro.......

I have not tried these drivers myself mind, but it is worth a try.

Connect the device to the gameport controller. Go to the Control Panel and
click on Game Controllers. Use the AutoDetect features and XP will install
the built in drivers.

Gameport controller will work correctly on XP. However, if you wre using
enhanced drivers, then you will be out of luck. Gameports will not get
updated drivers in XP.
