I would like to have a gadget that displays which high-bit ASCII
characters are displayed by holding down the ALT key and typing in a
number on the key pad such as 251 = ?. I think there used to be a pop-up
text in XP.
There are tons of clocks out there and even some old countdown clocks to
the launch of Vista. How about a countdown clock for how many days,
hours and minutes are left before Bush leaves office?

And I'm still waiting for someone come up with a network traffic monitor
gadget that actually works...

Well, I can make the gadget that counts down until bush leaves office. I
made a countdown timer for the vanishing point game based off the famous
vista countdown timer.

Can I have a copy of your gadget?

I have DUMETER too. I'm getting more than double the download
bandwidth. I downloaded approx. 12GB over two days, and it reports
27GB over that period. I checked the files in Windows Explorer, and
the were only 12GB. I was downloading in parallel, don't know if that
makes a difference.

Make sure you have latest version. 3.5. If you have a lower version 3 you
can get free upgrade.
Important thing for your problem is to open settings and at drop down
"Network interface to monitor" make sure you have it set for you network
card and NOT "all interfaces".

Don't forget the overhead.
