gadgets not working

I am using Windows Vista Home Basic and I recently installed Google Desktop
witch has its own Sidebar that overrides the Windows Sidebar Gadgets. After
trying out the Google Sidebar, Windows Sidebar no longer appears. UAC
Control is enabled. Do I have to go into and edit the Registry with RegEdit?
There must be a simple fix, somebody please help.

You would get better results posting in a Windows Vista newsgroup given your
whole situation centers around that OS.

What happens when you do either of the following:

Start button --> All Programs --> Accessories --> Windows Sidebar

OR

Open the Start Menu and in the search line type this word:
sidebar
and hit Enter key.
