Xp pro will boot up and stay that way until I click to
open any app. Then it just shuts down the monitor. The
machine will recover sometimes saying the device failed.
Or re-boot saying the display drivers are causing
instability issues. It worked just fine in my 98
machine. Downloaded every driver possible. Card
specific, Nvidia's base driver, etc. XP has all the
critical updates also. What am I missing? Is this a
known issue?
 
Yes it's an MSI card. Has XP drivers. Loaded
them...didn't fix. I heard to disable video cache in
BIOS?? Sound right?

Try download the latest XP compatible drivers from
nvidia.com version 45.23 WHQL Certified and read the
Release note

Did you install the motherboard chipset drivers?? Is the AGP port set to
the correct speed (4x, 8x etc)??
