What would you say is the difference between the
terms "arithmetic function" and "formulae"?

We don't usually do homework!! As you have such a nice name, I'll make an
exception.
An arithmetical function is something such as + - / * or SUM, AVERAGE etc.
A formula is a bunch of arithmetical functions joined together.
 
I spend most of my evenings doing their homework - that's why I don't
usually do it here!! <bg>
