Have tried using every possible configuration to use Backup from XP Home
Edition to do a full system backup. Doesnt work. Any good Freeware Backup
utilities that will let me do a full system backup?

Ditto bambam's reply. Further, DriveImage XML has worked flawlessly for me
running from BartPE and saving images to a WD EIDE hard drive inside a USB
case. Juzme

Yes, I've often used and recommended Partition Saving in systems with
onboard floppy drives. It works great but, as you allude to, requires DOS
to run at all. On the other hand, DriveImage XML runs inside windows or a
Windows PE disc like Bart's which provides functional USB device drivers.
Lots of new boxes, and especially notebooks, don't come with a floppy drive.
It's been my experience that DOS doesn't play good with USB mass storage
devices. This has been so for me running DOS based imagers from either
floppy or CD. I've tried all the boot disk methods and driver combos I
could find online. If you've got a sure thing DOS workup that will without
a doubt save images to USB devices I'd appreciate gaining some know how.
TIA, Juzme

If you're just looking to back up the files (not to make an image of
the disk), Karen's Replicator.

Hi Juzme, :-)
Nowadays Freedos has drivers for booting from USB sticks. I don't have
a stick, so I don't know any details. CD drivers for autobooting cd
also available.
Maybe you want to post for help at Freedos users mailing list? You can
find it there (the first one): http://www.freedos.org/freedos/lists/

Thanks!
Elf Wizard. :-)
