Hoping someone can help.
I was sent a series of cd's, one having "Family Tree
Maker" program (which I loaded) along with a number of
others with the family tree information on them. All
with .ftm or .ftw as path. My XP does not recognize
these paths therefore I can't open them. How can I
change these files so that I may open and add to them.

Hi,
FTW is the data file for Family Tree Maker. If the program installed
properly, it should be able to open them. Copy the FTW files to the
harddrive, right click each one, look at properties and uncheck the "Read
only" attribute if it's set.

Hope this helps,
Don

You can't change them, you will need to install the program or check to see
if they offer a reader. Good luck!

Install the program that is suppossed to read the files, then open the
..ftm file with it. It sounds like your problem is just an associatian
thing which is really no big deal. I never remmember how to do/reset
file associations anyway :)

My bad.
