Here is the issue. We have a FTP site setup with accounts
and permissions. When we use IE6 to go the ftp site it
will only let us into the home folder and beyond but wont
let us get to the previos folders or to the root of the
ftp. The account has permissions to view everything. If
we use the command line we can get there just fine and
also when we use something other than IE like exceed. Is
there anyway in IE to access a folder that resides before
the home directory?

THanks

FWIW I saw some strange behaviour from IE when Passive FTP
was checked. (Perhaps some kind of undocumented timeout.)
Others claim similar strangeness avoided by unchecking

If your OS is XP Pro you could use netcap to see exactly what
IE is seeing and how it is reacting to it. Ethereal also has a capture
tool but I never managed to make it work transparently enough. YMMV.

Good luck

Some of this behavior may be due to the OS your are running and possibly the
ftp server software. If the ftp server is running IIS then it should
restrict your ftp session's access to the defined home directory and any
subdirectories that your session has been given access to. Any other
directories/folders on the system should not be available to your session.
