FTP download won't work

Since using IE6 I can't access & download from FTP sites
that were no problem with IE5.5
Have seen MS Knowledge Base Info #816037 saying they are
aware of the problem and have a supported fix for it.
Has anyone successfully received & installed this fix?
Can it be downloaded without going directly thru MS
Support? I can't seem to find anything.
Getting desperate - need access to the FTP data.

I am having the same problem. I go to download page and
IE stops responding. I can't upload updates or patches
from anything. Has anyone got any information on this
problem.
