Thanks to all who gave me suggestions for the above.

I have downloaded all suggested programs plus one or two others, and hope
to try them all out when starting the course in 2 or 3 weeks.

Disregard my previous post! I see now that FileZilla *has* been
previously mentioned. I was fooled because I did a Google search of
this newsgroup for "FileZilla," and for some reason this thread was
not among the hits. Sorry about that...
