When I attempt to connect to a site (with assistance from
their IT person) he indicated that they show me trying to
connect to their server, but the connection can not be
completed from something on my end. I have a Windows XP
workstation. I tried both the FTP in the IE browser as
well as the WS_FTP program and both lock up when
attempting to access via FTP to their site but will
access others. They say that I am the only one having
trouble connecting to their server. I can browse and
receive e-mail, and can also access other FTP sites.....
Also, when I attempt to repair my netowrk connection, I
receive a message that renewing the IP address failed,
yet I'm able to browse the internet. We have a server
running Novell that has the DSL modem and router
connected to the network hub and shared by the other
computers. We're using Windows XP for two workstations
and have three others using Windows98 SE. Can someone
help?

I wonder if XP is running their cheesy firewall on there.
Are you running any firewalls?

Try using passive mode for FTP. With WS_FTP, the box to check
is under the Advanced tab of the SessionProperties box. With
IE, it is under the Advanced tab of Tools/InternetOptions.

Thanks for the suggestion but I already had the passive
mode selected.... I'm still unable to connect to their
FTP server, but yet I can access others. They tell me
that I am the only one having trouble connecting. I can
ping their server, I just can't get past the handshake...
