FRS crashes and event 7023 is logged

I have a W2K server that in addition to being the domain
controller, it also hosts the Dfs root. Everything used to
be fine on this server before, but I can't start the File
Replication Service anymore. When I try to start from
command line (net start ntfrs), I get the following error:

"Service terminated unexpectedly. System error 1067
occurred. "

In the EventViewer panel, there is no error reported by
the File Replication service; but, in the System panel I
can see an event is logged by Service Control Manager:
"Event 7023: File Replication Service terminated
unexpectedly. "

As a result of this, I cannot configure the replication
poolicy for any of my Dfs links.

Does anyone know what could have gone wrong, and how it
can be fixed.
