Hi I was wondering if anyone new what the difference is
between Visits || Hits || Total Hits in the Monthly
Summary when looking at the usage data is.

Thanks
Warwick

Warwick,

In most cases hits are elements on a page, for example if you have 2 graphics on your page, each would count as a hit, that is why hits can be misleading when reviewing a report.

Visits are unique visitors to a site and more accurate for evaluating your web traffic.

When reviewing reports, the two biggest numbers I look at are unique visitors and length of time per visitor, from there I view referrals and drill down from there.

Thank you for your reply, just a couple more questions
when u refer to unique visitors you are talking about the
visits catagory in the monthly summary (or weekly or
daily) or am I missing another section where this is
displayed.. Also you say you can look at the length of
time per visit. Where is this feature found as I have not
seen anything like this on my usage data.

Also 1 last question. Is there any I can exclude Search
Engines from my visits as they will increase my
hits/visits and will put my stats out.

Thank you for your reply.

FP web usage reports do not include length of visit (but your host server logs may)

You can not segregate search engines out but you can look a the visiting users

See if your host offers any better stats than FP (which are very limited in information)
