On Windows XP, I downloaded the security update that was
issued for FrontPage Server Extensions from the auto
security update provided by Microsoft. The File # is
KB810217. Now every time I access my account on the family
computer, the notice saying I have a new security update
waiting pops up for the same issue and number. I checked
the add or remove programs in control panel and the
Windows XP Hotfix KB810217 is listed, so I assume it is on
file. I even tried deleting the file and reloading it to
see if it didn,t take, but I get the same thing when I log
on. Can someone tell me where I need to go from here (at
least in as much as this computer is concerned).

Hi Billy,

It sounds like this Hotfix did not install properly. When the hotfix
installs it adds the updated file and also a few updates in the Registry.
Deleting the file and attempting to readd the hotfix was a good first
attempt to correct this. But I suspect the problem is in the registry.

Here's a couple of things you can try:

1) Use Control Panel / Add-Remove Prog to remove the update.
Reboot after removing the update, then attempt to readd it.

2) If this does not work, see if you have a Restore Point from just
prior to the update. If so, try restoring to that day.

Hopefully one of these should get you past this.
