This has bee a thorn in many people's sides and mine as well, and I
finally figured it out and am adding this to the historical newsgroup
records to free those who are bound by the same glitch (you know, when
you want to add another picture to a photgallery already made and the
list of pictures doesnt show up in the picture properties making you
have to start from scratch)!

Here is a way to modify Photogalleries WITHOUT having to start
photogallery from scratch!

You must modify the real.htm file in the specific photogallery folder
you are modifying and add pictures.
First take your picture and make a thumbnail version of it. Now take
your large picture and place it in the folder that it belongs to
wherever that may be. Place thumbnail version in photogallery folder of
gallery you are changing.

Go to this section and for as many pictures you are adding with a
caption place an extra "<div></div>" at the end before the last

The number where you see 2512 I just made up...just put another number
in there besides the one you cut code from.
You will have to add the width and height of your large picture where
you see 568 and 426. Leave 9161 alone.
Place the next number up from the prior pictures number where 11 is (it
was 10 in the last pictures code).
"src='FR_Accident.jpg'" references thumbnail pic and
"='../../FR526/FR_Images/FR_Accident.jpg'" is where you should
put reference to big picture.

That's great and thank you but ... you still have the larger version of the
photo opening in the top left corner of a non-page. There are so many other
ways to make a much better gallery such as with JAlbum as I have pointed
out. You shouldn't have to make all these changes to get the gallery to work
correctly. It is a flawed component that Microsoft doesn't care about
fixing. And many won't be comfortable with making changes to the code.
Here's my previous article:

anything is better than the FP photogallery.

Actually fwiw, I have played with the photogallery for hours trying to get it to malfunction and
can't.
I have created it in 2003, closed 2003 and opened it in 2002 and edited it.
Closed 2002 opened 2003 and edited it some more and so on, and so on.

Next time you have a problem, close FrontPage and do a windows search for files named *.web ( with
the asterisk ) and delete all found. Reopen FrontPage and then try.
