Am using Front Page 2000 on Win2K, 128M Ram, 40G HD. All
works fine EXCEPT when I click on the "open" icon OR go
to "File-Open", the program will display a list of files,
then immediately terminate the program with the
error "FrontPage.exe has generated an error and will
terminate". If I click on "OK" the program immediately
quits, or will do so in about 5 seconds if I don't click
on "OK". Am able to edit pages, etc by going to the
Folders list and double clicking on a file. Have
uninstalled and reinstalled, but the problem still exists.

Any help appreciated.

Have you tried the usual repairs
1) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all FP Temp Files
2) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all hidden *.web files
3) In Windows Explorer Find and delete the file CMDUI.PRF
4) Disable or Uninstall any FP Addins
5) Run a Repair / Reinstall on FP & IE
6) Install all Service Packs for your OS, IE, and MS Office

Stefan, I have done all that you suggested and I am still
experiencing the problem. I have the Dr. Watson log entry
for the event if you would like to see it. Basically, I
believe it shows an access violation. No viruses, nothing
of that sort.

The Dr Watson log would baffle me (-;
But if it is an access violation you need to check your Win2K permissions settings

Hmmm, maybe you know something I don't. Currently the
user is a member of the Power User group. When the
program was first installed (under Administrator) the
problem occurred. I then uninstalled and gave the user
Admin privileges and reinstalled, still has the problem.
I then uninstalled, and reinstalled as the user with Admin
privileges, still has the problem. The user is using Ofc
2K with no "File-Open" problems EXCEPT for Front Page. If
you know of a setting that I can change or check will be
glad to do so.

The access violation comes from the Dr. Watson log and
yes, it is a bit confusing to me also. The log does show
where the error occurred, but does not mean a lot to me.
Anyone else like to take a crack at this?
