Front-End Queries suddenly slow

I have a split database. All of the computers are accessing their data fine.
I had one user's machine suddenly start taking 30-90 seconds to run queries
that open forms or drop-down lists ect. Everything else on that user's
machine is running fine. I've tried numerous things such as uninstalling the
virus protection, unlinking and re-linking tables, compacting ect. Nothing
has helped.

Does anyone have any suggestions.

The same thing happened on one of my machines a few weeks ago. I had
installed some new HP printer software for a new color laser printer. When I
uninstalled the printer software and just used the WindowsXP default
software drivers, everything returned normal. Just a thought.

The only thing he has installed was a new virus protection program. We have
uninstalled it to no avail.

The only printers we use are network printers and he does not have anything
hooked up directly

The printer I connected was a network printer too. The reason my machine was
affected was that I was the only one that installed HP's new drivers.

Try opening a small table and leaving it open when running these forms and
see if that helps. If it does, create a small table with 1 record, and have
it open when you open the database (you can have it resized to a small
footprint that sits behind your active forms). That will establish a
permanent connection which should increase speed.
