From Windowsxp home to Pro?

I have the official version of WindowsXP Home dition and would like to get
PRO, but cannot see any updates other than from Win98 and then at a hefty
price.

No other way?
 
Only way is to purchase the $199 "retail, upgrade version" of XP Pro.

Hi Karl,

The upgrade version of XP Pro, while not stated on the box, will upgrade
over XP Home very easily, and is stated so in the book.
However, you are right, it is a hefty price tag - so read up on it and make
sure the price is worth it for what you gain with Pro. Many home users would
never need the extras included with Pro, which deal mainly with increased
networking support, file encryption, multiprocessor support.
