We have around 100 computers that worked on local, now we have to
put them on a domain. Is there an easy way (utility program) to transfer
there documents, settings and else from the local account to there domain
account?

Here are my notes for doing this from MVP Torgeir Bakken. Although they
reference a Win2k server, they are applicable to Win2k3.

Copy local (Workgroup) profile to Domain profile from Torgeir Bakken:

We solve this by (in the registry) changing the profile path for the new
user to point to the old user's profile folder (the user needs to log
on at least once first).

If the user is not a local admin, you might need to to something on the
permission side. Use tip 4631 and 2240 in the 'Tips & Tricks' at

In addition, although this isn't connected to the user account issue,
make sure you set up your DNS correctly. The server should only look to
itself for DNS with forward/reverse lookup zones for Internet access
and the workstations should only look to the server.
