Hi Elkheights, I have almost 13,000 messages showing in THIS newsgroup, all
have a sender name in the :From column.

Is this on the msnews server,

You mean *your* sender name is not showing, or the names of
all of the senders are missing?
Is there a From column, and is it totally blank?
Which antivirus are you running?

Hi Gary,

All the senders names are missing and yes, the From Column is there, but it
is empty. I am using Windows Mail to read newsgroups. My Antivirus is
Computer Associates. Hope you can help.

Thanks,
Carol

That's very strange. By any chance, has the width of the From column
been reduced to almost nothing? If so, widen it.

I also use CA antivirus, and find it to be very compatible.

One sure way to fix this is to upgrade to Windows Live Mail:

Hi,
The width of the From Column was set to 155. I widened it to 200 with no
change. Ya, CA has never been a problem for me. Can't figure the one out.

Thanks, anyway. Probably some setting somewhere.

Sorry, I don't know of any fix other than upgrading to WLM.

Not likely to be a setting. I know pretty much all the settings
and what they do.

Try this:
Click Start and type
regsvr32 inetcomm.dll
and click it at the top of the list of matches.

1. Go to Tools | Options | Read | Fonts and set Western (ISO) as the
default.
2. Clear Temporary Internet Files and the Temp folder.
3. Turn off email scanning in your anti-virus.
4.

So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?
For quite a few people it's by installing programs like Messenger Plus,
whose ads for malware don't identify the malware as such and try to convince
you that you owe it to the author. See also:

Don't ever do a "default" install of anything. Always choose Custom and see
what else is being carried along. Don't install any extras you're not sure
of.

Hi Gary,

Have done all the Malware, Spyware and ect checks. Find nothing. Under
Tool/Option/Read/ Fonts the Western (ISO) is not listed.. I know it was
there, but now gone. Can I get this back?

I don't have SP3. My OS is Window Vista Premium. Any way the senders names
have some how reappeared in the From Colum..

You will have to uninstall SP3 before you can uninstall IE7.

You know, I really can't say. The only thing I did was change the font from
User Defended to Western European as I do not show Western (ISO) in Windows
Mail--Tools/Options/Read/Fonts, so couldn't use that option, which was
suggested.

Interesting. To what do you attribute the From names reappearing?

Looks like we are on the same page here. No Western (ISO) for me either.
Anyway the change to Western European seems to have worked. I find my
problems are usually some setting somewhere. It is just tracking it down.

Carol

Under that setting you mentioned, I have Western European, but no
Western (ISO).
