FreshUI for forcing shutdown?

When I let the DKU Drivers (DKU-5 is a usb cable which has it's own drivers,
used for connecting our Nokia Cell phone to our PC) load at boot up when
it's time to shut down the computer it just hangs and the only way to shut
it down is a hard shutdown (holding the power button until it shuts down)
and we all know this is not good for the computer. So I use Start-up
Manager and tell it not to let the drivers load at bootup, if I plan on
syncing my phone with the computer I plug the phone into the DKU-5 cable and
boot up the computer and I can then sync it, but then when it's time to shut
down it hangs and hard shutoff is the only way to shut down my PC. I looked
in the Device Manager and it shows no problems with the DKU-5 usb
connection.. I loaded drivers for this cable from both the CD that came with
it and right from Nokia's website.. I've heard FrechUI is a program that has
tweaks one of which will force programs to close for shutdown, sounds a bit
harsh for the XP OS and wondered if anyone has used it.

It sounds like you have corrupt drivers due to an incomplete installation
routine.

While the phone is connected to the computer, go to device manager, find the
device (Nokia?)and uninstall it from there. Immediately reboot your
computer. The system will redetect your phone and want to install drivers.
At that point, put in the driver disk that came with the phone and allow the
system to search for the necessary drivers. When completed, remove the
driver disk and reboot again to make certain that the condition has been
corrected.

Gave that a try Richard but it didn't work,

But I did receive a e-mail from Nokia and they couldn't reenact my problem
but they're suggestion on how to stop it worked.. In case anyone else runs
into this problem and does a search here is the fix..
"Open the Connection Manager within PC Suite and uncheck the Serial cable
connection box. This will stop the port connection to the data cable and you
can now attempt to shut down the PC. If this allows the PC to shutdown then
you will want to stop the data cable prior to shutting down the PC"
