Hi:
I have been participating several 'Internet Support Groups' over the years.

Due to some problem on one of 'Support G.' attributed to my 'Main'
identify/'main' e-mail
address, I am thinking about using another e-mail address/second one in the
hopes that
I am able to start a 'brand new member/participant.'

I wonder, however, whether I am able to erase my 'past' record, if I'd start
using my second
e-mail address?

BTW, I contacted/asked this question to the Support G., however there was NO
response.

I would be truly appreciated it if you would provide me with input,
suggestion and any other
feedbacks/ideas on this regard.

Don't think you can erase your past record. Is that bad?

If you're using Outlook Express, you can delete your existing NEWS identity
and create a brand new one as follows;
OE/Tools/Accounts/ click on the NEWS tab
Highlight the account you wish to modify and click REMOVE

Then simply go back in and create a new account. I'm not sure if instead of
clicking on REMOVE, if you click on PROPERTIES, on the GENERAL tab, change
your name and also don't forget to munge your email address..
Hope this helps.

Dan

Hi Dan:
Thanks for your quick response.

The Support Groups in which I've been participating are all 'Health' and
'Hobby' related.
Of course, this site, NG is one of 'BEST' Support Groups I ever found by
accident when
I needed a help VERY badly on my 'computer' crash. Got a big help at that
time, thanks!

I, too agree with you, 'erasing' all bad things by using 'Remove' button.
However, due to 'private' Support Groups, both 'Health' and 'Hobby,'
then the things might be more complicated, to say the least.

Any other clues/ideas on this regard would be great.

Thanks for your response.

Not sure I understand. I thought you were asking if you could change your
existing identity for use in Newsgroups.

If I now read you correctly, you're saying you want to maintain your
existing identity for certain groups but you also want a separate identity
to communicate with other groups. And if that's a correct assumption, then
the answer is yes you can add an identity, assuming your ISP allows it.
Again in Outlook Express, FILE/IDENTITIES/ADD A NEW IDENTITY and then fill
out the requires info. Then all you do is toggle back and forth using
FILE/SWITCH IDENTITIES to communicate with your various groups.

If for whatever reason that's not possible, then have you considered signing
on with another free service like Hotmail, Yahoo or GMail etc.

Hi:
I have been participating several 'Internet Support Groups' over the

Not sure if this is what you want but this is what I do.

For example:-

I have a news account for these ms groups "msnews.microsoft.com" and in the
account properties I put my name as Spikey.

So then I would set up a new news account named as "msnews.microsoft.com2".
In the properties just choose another name ie Fred Smith.

Subscribe the groups you want to the appropriate name.

Tools/Accounts/Add/News/ and complet the wizard.

I also use a spammed out email address just for the news groups. It wont
stop anyone looking at your real posting path but it will stop the "bots"
picking up on your real email address. Yahoo do free mail accounts and are
particularly good at handling spam if you need a new email address.

Hi Dan:
Thanks for your response/concern over this.

yes, ... I've been having some problems related to my 'main identify'/my
first e-mail address;
after joining 'privately-funded Support-Group/health and hobby.'

I created a second e-mail address and used/experimented it on the
problematic 'support G.,' and
unfortunately there is STILL problems persisted. In my guess, ... probably
even the change
of Identify, ... there is an existence of my 'main identity' into a second
identify
e-mail address? Like, ... simply can NOT hide your 'scarred' face even
after a lot of make-up.

Then, as you suggested, ... is it a good idea to get another ISP, 'free' or
'cheapest one,'
if I can find in my area?

Thanks again, any way.

Hi:
Thanks for your response.

My problem is NOT here, MS group, ... it is 'privately' funded Support
Group, like 'Trade/Hobby'
related Support Group, if you know about this. I love those one, because I
can learn the things by
asking and reading the others when I need some projects to be done around
house/work.

However, there is STILL problem existed, even I have been using a second
e-mail/ID .

In my guess, my 'Main' Identify/first e-mail address has an influence to the
second ID?

Then, my 'very' last solution is probably I need to create another e-mail
address by using
'free' ISP or something else, if available or I can find?

I'd very grateful if you could direct me a proper web-site/sites.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Dan:
Thanks for your response.

One thing about which I worry is that someone said, ...
if you have 'hotmail' or 'yahoo,' there are a ton of advertisements
clogged up in your mail-box.

Is that true? Because, I do NOT welcome any of pesky advertisement
invading into my e-mail box after accessing/using
those 'free' sites,... to tell the truth.

Just in case, ... I want to make sure not to get many 'unwanted' mails
although I love to get another ISP/free or minium charged.

Thanks for your info. in advance.

Hi there, I did understand that from your message I was just using it as an
example.

There are a few nasty sad peeps on usenet who manage to completely close
down some groups. From experience the only answer is to bow out of those
and any associated groups. Sometimes after a few months these groups can
return to normal civility as the idiots have moved on to fresh victims.
Sadly some are resident for the life of the group.

Yahoo - www.yahoo.com does a good free email service as I mentioned. To the
best of my knowledge about the only free read and post news service is
google - www.google.co.uk (or.com). But I would still avoid the problem
group for a while. These idiots are sometimes quite clever and even with a
new id etc may pick up on your posting style and recognise you.

Yahoo is quite easy to set up so the majority of the rubbish goes into the
bulk folder. I used to check it but havent ever found a real mail in there
so I just delete it.

OE6-specific newsgroup:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress
OE General newsgroup:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general

Spikey and Dan:

Thanks for your suggestion along with an advice as for 'Support G.' related
problem.

There are more than five Support Gs., both 'Health' and 'Hobby' related
Supports
I've been participating for the past years.
Then, I might need to expect this form of problem popping-up sooner or
later.

Just one thing I love those ones is, ... as you might know, ... it's very
educational
and I also gain a ton of knowledge from those folks with real experience.
Then, I am
NEVER abandan those sites, even I have some problems. Just be cautious, as
you mentioned in your previous/last response.

Thanks both, Dan and Spikey for providing me with useful
web-sites.
