Fresh install of Office2003 but Drag & Drop i Word not working...

I have fresh install of XP and Office 2003. Drag and Drop text editing does
not work in WORD. It is turned on in Options. Repair and even a Reinstall
made no difference. Any idea what I need to do to fix this? I am a writer
so it is very used feature.
 
I haven't experienced a total failure of this feature, but the other day
twice when I was trying to drag and drop text Word gave me the dreaded
"We're sorry, but..." message, so it may be that Word 2003 has some
tenderness in this area.
