i need to reboot xp home about 20 times per day. i use signed drivers and tested memory. tried various graphics cards. win98 was stable on this machine, but software forced me to upgrade to xp
any suggestions?

What is it that is happening to make you need to re-boot?

While Win98 may have been stable, did you run the compatibility tests on
this machine before upgrading? See www.microsoft.com/windowsxp.

Also, look in the event viewer for clues about what is causing the problems.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

Rob you were grat in Blue Thunder, SeaQuest DSV what were you thinking
:)

Rob, thanks for a sensible answer. I did not run the compatability tests. Can one do this after installation? The logs show nothing abnormal. It freezes like someone yanked out the power cord, but the monitor stays lit with the last frame from the graphics card. Nothing sems to lead up to the event
It happens sometimes when completely idle or somtimes when I use an application (anything).

I think you should go ahead and run those compatibility tests... I can't
think why they won't work on XP, but I've not run them on XP machines
(except you are having problems with XP).

It also could be hardware (power supply, memory, etc.).

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.
