I'm running Outlook 2000 client on W2K pro with Exchange 2000 (W2K Advanced
Server).

When creating a new message outlook freezes when trying to access the
contacts list. I am able to access the GAL but then when scrolling down
to choose a contact from the contacts list it freezes and I have to restart
outlook.

Did you recently udate outlook? If so, i have the same problem, o sent a
post about it (see below)

The post:

Recently I updated my Microsoft Outlook 2000 SR-1 with the following
updates:
Office 2000 SP-3
Office 2000 SP-3 for Office 2000 SR1 and Publisher 2000 SR1

Now whenever I make a new email and go thru my "personal" contacts,
I receive a message stating that"

This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.
If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.

And under "details" is the following:

OUTLOOK caused a stack fault in module KERNEL32.DLL at 0187:bff7c8bf.

This only happened after I updated with the before mentioned updates.
I had used "goback" to revert back to the settings before the upgrade.
But I wanted to make sure that my PC had the current software updates.

If any of you know of a patch or some other way around this problem,
it would be greatly appreciated. I know I am not the only one with this,
particular problem. I talk to someone a couple months ago and she said
that she had the same problem.

Please help!

Thank you,

Nevermind, i found a solution. Apparrently, outlook 2000
didnt like one of my contacts, it kept giving me ther error message.
I went thru the contact one by one to find what one was causing it.
After i found it i wrote a new contact with the same information.
It works fine now!
