Freezing Rows

my problem is that I select the first row and go
Window/Freeze Panes it freezes 10 rows and approx 12
columns, even though Help says it will only freeze the
rows you have selected!!!!

Help most appreciated :-)

Select the cell below and to the right of where you want the split. Then
Freeze panes.

At the point when you are freezing the pane, exactly where is the "active cell"?


Although you may be viewing the area you think you are freezing, you may not
have actually selected the correct cell

You are selecting the very first row - Do not do that. Whatever cell you click on and
then hit Window / freeze panes, it will freeze the columns to the left and the rows above.
The very first row is an oddity in that it will do as you have said. If you just want to
freeze the first row, then click on the second and do it.
