freezing powerpoint

I have powerpoint with the rest of office version 10
programs installed on my computer with win98 operating
system. All office components are working, except
powerpoint.
It opens ok, however, when I start typng a title for my
presentation, it freezes. I tried re-installing the
program but this did not solve my problem. Please help!
 
See if disabling the office add-in for Norton Antivirus fixes the problem.

If that does not work, or you do not have NAV installed, then I would try to
start PowerPoint in safe mode. If it still happens in safe mode than I do
not know.

But lets try first things first. Do you have NAV? did disabling it fix the
hang issue?
