I seldom use google to find freeware, too many adds and non-freeware
come up. The site posted above is much much quicker as well as
pricelesswarehome and a few other dedicated freeware sites like

http://100-downloads.com/

Also Google is not always good for information that is not popular,
instead google will give you search results from crappy commercial sites
that have nothing to do with specific obscure or non-popular websites.
But google still has the most stuff indexed and used in conjunction with
yahoo, msn, info and a few others it is good.

How about creating a search of real freeware sites at http://www.rollyo.com/ and
post the link as a followup here?

John,
you are right... Google will find even more. But, have you actually had a
look at this list? There are so many goodies which most have never heard
about. You need to know the precise terminology to ask what you are looking
for. That's a task by itself!
I still remember the old DOS days when searching for a software that was
able to delete zero-byte files that wouldn't budge with any other commercial
software. I finally found it after it wasn't needed anymore. I forgot its
name by now, but the magic word in the software's name was "erase" and not
"delete". The "Freeware Utilities - 450+" make such searches much easier.
Just a thought by an average user...
