Another one:

Microsoft's Synctoy at http://tinyurl.com/7gaf2

SyncToy is a free PowerToy for Microsoft Windows XP that provides is
an easy to use, highly customizable program that helps users to do
the heavy lifting involved with the copying, moving, and
synchronization of different directories. Most common operations can
be performed with just a few clicks of the mouse, and additional
customization is available without added complexity. SyncToy can
manage multiple sets of folders at the same time; it can combine
files from two folders in one case, and mimic renames and deletes in
another. Unlike other applications, SyncToy actually keeps track of
renames to files and will make sure those changes get carried over to
the synchronized folder.

I dread to think how many bugs are in a v1.0 of any Microsoft product. :0)

Are there any free synchronizer tools that backup selected files and folders,
not just one folder, without creating 10 different profiles?

Ed;

I've been using Allwaysync (allwaysync.com) for about 4 months now.
Take it for a spin.

Thanks to all for the excellent recommendations.

So far, I've installed SyncBack and it works great. Will download and
install the other suggested programs and see if I like any of them better.

I appreciate the help.

I couldn't find a way to chose individual files with this, only directories
and only one at a time, without creating multiple profiles.

Maybe I need to RTFM a bit more. :0)

I use a French-language copy so my translations of the menu entries
might be somewhat akward.
At least here, you can define files through
Profiles > Filter : *.*
= you can define files specific files as well as files or file types

I just discovered that SyncBack has an automated update process so you
can always have the latest version.

Again I seem to be late in posting, but I've been using the freeware
version of ViceVersa for a couple of years and it works on my flash
drive as well. This way I carry my websites on the drive and when I
want to backup, I run the program.

Thanks for the recommendation. I will try it out.

Also, to the person who asked me to post the results of my evaluation of all
these programs, I will not have an opportunity to do so until this coming
weekend, but I should then have a little time to do some comparisons.
