Hi,

Is there available a freeware (or inexpensive) program that will let me
modify a PDF? I have been sent a form (15 pages long) which need some
questions to be answered, they have left space on the form for the
answer. I could print off all the pages and fill them in by hand then
post them off but it would be quicker and easier just to be able to
modify it and email it back.

Thanks

Gerald

Hi Gerald,

If it is a real form, intended to enter data in, then you might not have
the right Adobe Acrobat Reader version. Older versions (5 and downwards)
can deal with the new type of PDF files. Solution: Get yourself a newer
reader at Adobe's web site.

You may find many free softwares at google.com , but most of them were
too rough , I advise you to look at a free to try software at
www.unifpdf.com

That's not freeware. This group is supposed to be for the discussion of
freeware only. Please try to stay on topic.

Adobe Reader V6 and up require you to have at least IE6 installed. No
thanks.

Oh! Then why does it refuse to install on my machine? The message that
appears when I run the setup program says basically "I can't find IE6
so I quit."

I don't know, and that's why I wrote it the way I did. I know Reader 6
runs fine with IE5.0 on a machine I have. It may run with IE4, or no
IE at all, for all I know. I don't have Reader 7 installed anywhere,
so I quoted the system requirements from Adobe.

Did your test machine have IE 5.5 installed? If yes, it might be worth
an inquiry of Adobe. If no, then it probably asked for IE6 because
that's the version of IE that was current when Reader 7 was released,
but it will (presumably) run with 5.5.

Terry, no. I do not have IE installed other than that which came with
98SE and cannot be removed by 98Lite. I last tried Acrobat Reader 6
which is the one that asked for IE6. I have not tried V7 on principle.

Use Foxit Reader to open the PDF form.
Use Foxit's 'Typewriter' tool to type in your answers.
Use Primo or Cute or Paperless Printer to 'print' your open PDF form to
another PDF file.
The added text will be there (permanently).
