I need a prg where I can catalog my inventory. Ie I can take a picture
of all items (TV, Vcr, PC etc etc) and insert them into the prg with
information, serialnr, when it was puchased etc.
Do you have any recommendations?
It would be great if I could change the language to Danish, but thats
absolutely not the primary.

You may be able to use a spreadsheet. Many now support storing
images. See the previous thread:
<http://groups-beta.google.com/groups?q=spreadsheet+capable+of+storing+images+in+cells>

I haven't played with the beta version of OpenOffice yet, but I've
heard it includes a nice database. That is another possibility.

Yeah, that's one solution, but I have never used a spreadsheet before,
so I was looking for a ready made prg that I could start using right
away.
But if there isn't anyone, I may have to study how to do it in a
spreadsheet.

Ok I'll look into that

Not sure if you can find it or not but PCMag used to have a free program
called ThingVentory that would do what you are looking for. This was
back in the days when all PCMag utilities were free.

You can read about it and see some screenshots at

Good luck

There isn't a lot of choice in "readymade" apps. The app Retiredff posted about looks like a
possibility - about a 2 MB download - Registerware (fake email address works fine).

The download page also has a PDF file that may be helpful:

http://www.knowyourstuff.org/home_inventory_lists.pdf

A couple of other inventory apps are listed on the ACF program info pages - don't bother looking -
one's gone Adware, the other has disappeared from the author's site. FWIW I don't think they're
worth tracking down. . .

Instead I suggest you look at some all-purpose organizer apps - starting here:

http://www.pricelesswarehome.org/acf/P_ORGANIZERS.php#2.10Organizer:Notes

Some apps can store graphics, others can link to graphics files. In particular take a look at
Treepad (very easy to learn) and Keynote (less easy, more and different features).
GoldenSectionNotes is well liked and can store graphics *but* AFAIK you are locked into their format
(no way to export data). That's a cardinal sin in *my* book - especially for inventories. ;)

Hmm, I'm not sure excately what you mean, what's the name of the prg?

Naah, maybe I'm difficult, but that's not what I had in mind, so I
guess I'll just have to keep looking. It's out there somewher I'm
sure. I remember I had a prg a couple of years back especially made to
catalog inventory, but at the time I had no use for it so it's deleted
:-(

Thanks anyway

I was referring to this info:
The Insurance Information Institute, www.iii.org, has an inventory program
that will allow photos, etc. It is free, and can be downloaded at
http://www.knowyourstuff.org/.

I have not used it, but found out about it from a news story.

In that case just FYI:

The page hasn't been updated yet - the latest info:

My Stuff (Adware), Possessions (gone), ThingVentory (thngvent.zip) ($ware) (no change)

Turns out you can't download the program and install later. It is a
web-install. Sorry about that.

http://www.knowyourstuff.org/download.htm

<q>
To download the home inventory software, please fill out the following form. Once you click on the
download button, you will be prompted to either run or save the home inventory installation file. If
you choose to run the software, the installation process will automatically begin. If you choose to
save the file, you will have to run the file after it is saved.
</q>

Downloading worked here. If you aren't being given a choice you might need to change some settings
in your browser. I dunno what but I'm sure someone else will. . .

No wonder it didn't work. Well I'll just do without it then. I refuse
to let some unknown web site install anything onto my computer.
