Freeware from hell !!!

The google web accelerator is now on top of my list. It's now been 3 or
even more times that I installed and uninstall it because it is
temperamental with forum sites, to realize it just messed up my network
settings and I keep getting frequent "Net Timeout Error" and links that
require 3 or 4 clicks to finally work. Twice I had to use acronis image
to restore to an earlier state, and once now using windows system
restore, and if system restore doesn't fix this i'll be back to
acronis. Each time I restore my computer is fixed but then I wonder
"perhaps it wasn't the google web accelerator that did this", and
reinstall it. It doesn't work well after I install it, and it doesn't
work well after I uninstall it, what gives!

Now, never, never, never shall I reinstall the google web accelerator.

Well, Google apparently decided to take it out of existence a few
days ago:

The gain was not worth the problems, so it seems. At least they
acknowledge this and take appropriate measures.

That article says that they've suspended downloads because they've reached
the maximum number of users, and also that they're actively trying to
increase this limit.
