Freeware file manager replacement?

I have been using PowerDesk Pro 5.0 for years and like it but I assume there
may be some XP compatibility issues. It usually works fine but once a month
or so I get this "program is not responding" error message and have to
reinstall. Does anyone have suggestions for a cure or replacement?

Me too and I quite often get the 'not responding' message which is a
pain. But I do like Powerdesk (not free).

Has anyone tried DualXplorer http://technojolly.net?

I came across it recently but I have never seen it mentioned.
