I noticed on my computer that the archive folder stored in My Documents is
very large (16GB). Are these files critical to the system or can they be
deleted?

Thanks in advance for any help

Bob

Greetings:

What exactly do you mean by "the archive folder stored in My Documents"?
Did you create this folder? What does it contain?

It contains files with names similar to
a0baaa82-eb71-443d-afd5-35d9a8b4b6bf-1 with no extension. Most of the files
are 1,889,392 kb in size. each subfolder has about 4 of the above type files
and one file called index.arb

This is not a Windows XP folder, so it belongs to something that was
installed on your computer. The .arb file extension is associated with
Alphacam CAD/CAM software by Planit. If you did not install this program
then you should be concerned about a possible malware infection.

My parents complained about the same folder and files on their system.
Opening up the "index.arb" file reveals that the index is of your
filesystem as generated by something called "arbus" that is evidently
a part of their McAfee Security Center software. If you have this
software on your system as well then I would suggest disabling it and
seeing if these files no longer mysteriously appear.

Best,
Eric
