Everytime I try to log into my home page (Yahoo), I get this site, Freednhost.info, and then another page pops up automatically saying that "You Visited an Illegal Pedo Sites". I have tried looking for any applications and ran some free Spyware software but it still happens. Any ideas how to fix this. Thank you
 
I can't even get to that site because it brings me right back to some "Worth A Visit Site" from partypoker.com. Is there any software that I can buy to get rid of it? Thanks!
 
Check your hosts file - you may need to rename it. From a post by Mike
Burgess, that may apply:

Note - "iSearch" hijacks the HOSTS file and blocks access to "mvps.org" plus
about 30 other "anti-spyware" sites .... you'll need to rename your hosts
file first.

They also disable several other IE toolbar functions...

Once you do the above you should be able to reach the needed sites.
 
Do a search for "hosts" (no quotes, no file extension), making sure you
select search hidden/system folders as well.

Hosts file: "A text file that lists host names and their IP addresses on a
network. For small networks, the hosts file is an alternative to DNS." Used
for name resolution (mapping a name to an IP address)
 
What do I change it to? What does this do? I am really confused because the thing keeps on popping up. Thanks!!
 
Find the file.
Open it in notepad.
Does it look like it has a *lot* of stuff in it? A normal/vanilla hosts
file is pretty sparse - has only one entry - 127.0.0.1 localhost

You can rename the file in Windows Explorer - call it myhosts.bak or
something.
 
It's hosts, with no file extension, and make sure you're searching
hidden/system folders. By default on most systems, it should be in
c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc.

5. Use Hijackthis to scan & delete everylines tht contain tht suck UR
or IP and it's suck component,such as freednshost / 213.......

6. Delete other suck components manually such as in IE tools
Favorites then...set your new Start Page!!
7. If everythg.OK you can check by run HijackThis again,now your Star
Page will appear in the first line..BRAVO
8. Choose Save Log from HijackThis to hav a text file to view in th
future if whatever suck Hijacks come again!
9. Restart in Normal mode...everythg will be OK
