Frames always appear around printed slides

Hi,

Even when the "Frame Slides" checkbox is cleared in the Print dialog box, I
always get frames placed around each slide in Print Preview and when
printed. Any idea how to get rid of them? Is this a bug?

It happens with PowerPoint 2003 on W2K and no matter which printer I select.

Thanks,

Adrian

Errr. Yes.

I get the impression you're just about to tell me I'm doing something really
dumb :-)

Adrian

No, I can't think of why you're getting the line, if you are unchecking "Frame
Slides". Are you printing slides or handouts? Do you see the line in Print
Preview?

I am not sure what Sonia was about to tell you, but I have a guess :) If the
background of your slide is white, the outline will always show. Otherwise,
there is no way to indicate where the edges of the slide are.... (Sonia,
correct me if this isn't where you were going with the question.)

I've found out what it is...

The border is actually on the slides themselves (from the master slide) but
because the background immediately behind each slide is either dark grey (in
the PowerPoint window) or black (full-screen presentation) the frame is not
at all obvious. On the printout it stands out because the background is
white.

Sonia, Kathy...thanks for your help!

Adrian

That was my thinking, but then I couldn't confirm it with testing here.

FWIW, you can click OFF the slide and choose B/W settings for the slide b/g, in
case that helps. Or do the same in master view to set the b/w settings for the
masters.

Glad you found it. If it turns out that you want to leave the border, but
not have it print, there is an article on my site that includes an add-in
that lets you turn elements on and off for print:

Steve:
I have a new copy of Power Point 2003 and have been going crazy trying to
turn these frames off in the master slide. I finally found this posting and
I have downloaded the power point add in listed on this thread and it won't
load. Nothing mentioned seems to work. Any suggestions?

What add-in are you referring to? Whenever loading an add-in you need to be
sure that you have gone to Tools > Options > Security > Macro Security and set
it to Medium. Otherwise the add-in will not load.

Hi Sonia:
The add-in was objectnoprnt.ppa from steve rindsberg. You tip about
lowering the security allowed me to load the macro and fix the problem.
Thanks so much for helping me out.

Oh dear. Has my mind gone walkabout AGAIN???
And google's too?
Neither one of us can find it. Where'd you run into this little fella?

Would it have been TAGERASE.PPA?

Steve,
I think he means my objectnoprint.ppa - The one you helped me debug last
fall. See here for the article on it:

Glad that's sorted. You've got one by that name, I don't. That pretty well
settles it!
