How do you add a fraction charactor to word so it automatically changes the
fraction to charactor size? example 1/8 changes to fraction size.

You can't add them. Some fonts provide single characters for common
fractions like 1/2, 1/4, etc. But if the fraction you want is not in the
font already, you can't add it.

You could (sort of) fake it by creating tiny drawings -- comprising
numerator, denominator, and bar as separate elements, positioned and
grouped -- then define these as AutoText entries. Fairly tedious, though.

Excellent idea... tried it and it works!

Question: If I create a fraction in this manner and send the document to
someone else, will they be able to see it correctly?

Yes. The macro is used to create the fraction. Once it's created, it will
appear the same to anyone.

Follow-up...

Tried the Macro in PowerPoint and Front Page... didn't seem to work.
Something about an "object". Any ideas?

The macro is a Word thing. PowerPoint also has macros, but not that make use
of Word functionality. In this case, if the output is an EQ field, that is
entirely a Word construction, that won't work anywhere else. FrontPage
doesn't use macros at all.

There are ways to create fractions in PowerPoint and in webpages, but not so
simple: 'best method' depends on quite what you need to end up with, how
often you need to do it, and so on.
