My Server reinstalled FP extensions and now I have the following
problem. First of all, none of the FP files, like adm, cgi, vti etc are
showing on my root web site when I log into my server to update. ( I
update live so I get the root web that shows in FP).Gone!

Secondly, I had a secondary navigation system running through my site,
built from a Link Bar. That is gone all throughout my site. Fortunately,
I had a backup on CD and so I just thought I would go into a page--copy
the link bar, then I opened up a page in my site, pasted the Link Bar
and resaved to my server. The link bar still does not appear. I have
been on the phone with my provider, but they still are not sure as to
what is going on.

Where in the heck would this Link Bar be residing on my backup (besides
the pages thoughout my site). Does FP put in into one of these adm type
files that I don't seem to have any longer and that is why it will not
function even when I re-copy it from an old page (off my site) and
repaste it. Help please!!!!!!!!!!!!1 Thank you.

If you have a backup, I'd try restoring it to disk,
making sure all the read-only attributes are turned off,
and then opening it as a disk-based Web. If it looks
reasonably close to current, update it and publish.
Otherwise, copy down only the files that changed since
the backup.

At this time, I must also stress that advantages of
updating an off-line copy of the site and then
publishing. That way, if either site gets damaged, you
can recover from the other.
