Hello all.....

Using the FrontPage video tool to run a .avi file...is there a way to get a
picture of what is about to be seen... like the first frame of the avi... or
something??? (all I am getting is a blank box.... that works fine when you
click on it! or if the mouse over switch in on... when you mouse over
it......)

What simple switch am I missing to get a beginning picture?? :)

Thanks....
Tom Gahagan

ps... and yes... I did look around on the MS FrontPage site for an answer!
:)

can you tell me how you access the FrontPage "video tool", like; Insert/
component/ video tool?
I'm not sure how you're inserting the video

Hi Chris......

I just using the insert....from the main FP menu and then... video... from
the sub menu... I then use the browse to select the avi file. I using a one
row, 2 column table with border set to zero.... on the left cell I put
instructions for running the video and the right cell I inserted the video.

In the video properties box I have tried using both the onfile and the on
mouse over options to start the video. After the video is run once the last
frame of the avi stays but what I am looking for is the first frame of the
avi to be showing before the video is played. Kind of like it does when you
look at files in XP while you are in My Computer..... The first frame of the
avi file shows.

As is it now all I have is a gray box. You can click on it and the avi file
plays but it is kind of awkward looking. Anyway.... sorry I did not give a
very good explanation the first time ! :)

what you've done is what I would have, there was no option in the dialog
box? do you have a link to this page?

None that I could find..... so I figured I was missing something somewhere
else.
do you have a link to this page?
Nope... I ended up just setting up a link to the avi file and let media
player do the work. I would have prefered to have it self contained but it
look goofy (to me anyway) to have a blank box. I can put the
instruction.....

Move your cursor over the box on the right

or something like that but that is not really a great approach.

There has got to be a way to do this!!! I'll keep looking in some of the FP
web sites.

Ok... I'll give it a look....thanks!

I am also thinking of playing with an activex control... just to get the
experience of using them in FrontPage. I've not tackled that yet and need to
give it a whirl. Always looking to grow.
