FP does not delete remote files/folders when publishing

I have a site which I'm in the process of changing from thousands of single
html files to an asp/access driven site with a small handful of files. As I
change the "categories" I delete the single files locally (in FP) then publish
it. My problem is that FP doesn't delete the files on the remote side (i.e.
on the server). Why on earth does this happen? And how can I fix it?
The site is on a Win 2000 AS with FP 2002 SE installed.

In the future be sure that copy you are working on was in sync with the
server copy by first publishing a copy from the server to your local
machine.

When publish make sure you have select to publish Change Pages Only, for
pages to be deleted.

You may want to as a last resort - open the remote site and delete it then
re-publish from your PC / Web

I am fairly new to FrontPage, but if you just use the regular publish button, it will publish the way FP was previously set. If you go into File, then select publish, it will give you an option for selecting how it publishes. I had the same problem at first, with updating my site and it didn't delete the old files. With going into File then Publish, you can change the option and it will delete files that you no longer have on your local computer.
