Found New Hardware Wizard

My motherboard is ASUS P4C800-E (Deluxe) and I recently installed a BIOS
update from AMI (1017.004 07/22/2004). OS is Windows XP Pro SP2.

Everything appears to be working well... but with one minor annoyance:
Everytime the PC reboots, it tells me that new hardware has been found. The
"Found New Hardware Wizard" opens and wants to install software for "RAID
Controller."
I have no idea what has provoked this message; I'm not running a RAID
configuration.

Can someone tell me how to eliminate this message?

Hello,

You can insert the CD from Asus and when the message appear select install
from selected locations and select your cd-rom for windows to look in it for
drivers... and at the end you should have your problem solved. Basically the
bios update must have updated the raid controller that is located onboard...
and windows think it's a new controller...

Hi Andre,

Thanks for your very quick help.

I followed your instructions, but the "required" drivers could not be found
on the Asus installation CD! After failing to find the drivers, a dialog
box appeared giving me the option to not have this specific problem drawn to
my attention again! Well, yes...that's exactly what I wanted!

I then rebooted and the New Hardware Wizard failed to appear. Great! But
another dialog box appeared indicating that an error had been noted and that
the data should be sent to Microsoft. I agreed... rebooted again, and
everything seems back to normal.

I'm not experiencing any problems, so I suspect all is okay...Thanks again.

Keith
