I have just started using Outlook 2002. I was orginally using AOL and did
not require any message handling capabilities.

I have switched my ISP, and now I am using Outlook 2002.

The problem I am having, is when I receive a message that has been
forwarded, it now comes as an attachment. When I down load the attachment, I
do not know what application to open it in.

If I open it in Word, it displays garbage.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What file type does the forwarded message have? Outlook folows the file
associations you have created in Windows' Folder Options.

I figured it out. You double click on the attachments and it opens up.

Thanks for the interest and response.
