formula won't calculate

There appear to be some cells in my workbook that won't
calculate formulas. I enter the formula correctly and all
I get is the formula as text, as typed. I have tried
reformatting but this does nothing. I have tried manually
calculating, but this does not work. The only remedy that
I have found is copying the formula to unused blank cells
until it calculates, then copying the formula back to the
cell I want it in. Sometimes this doesn't work I am stuck
with linking the cells. Also, it seems to appear most
often, but not exclusively when I am linking info from
another sheet in the workbook.

This happens when your cells are formatted as Text. Before entering
the formula, reformat the cell as General or another number format.
