Any help I can get is apprecited. I need to equate the
salary for a large number of jobs with different starting
salaries as a % =<> another job at the end of a three year
period. The calculation involves a cola for each year plus
an internal adjustment to bring each job to the desired %
=<> the base job at the end of three years. If the needed
adjustment (excluding colas) is less than 3% it is given
the 1st year. If the total adj (excluding colas) is 9% or
less, 3% is given the first year, 3% the second year if 6%
or less, and 3% the third year. If the total adj
(excluding colas) is 12%, 4% the first year, 4% or less
the second if 8% or less, and 4% the 3rd year. Etc. If the
amount is between say 9% and 12% default is to the first
year up to an additional 1% increment, then the second
year. Each calculation is rounded to the nearest $.

What you have written cannot be understood by anyone but you. Try this.
Imagine your company has just presented you with a new hire. He doesn't
even know how to find the bathroom yet. Your job is to tell him how to do
the task that you have. What are you going to say to him? Write that down
and post it back.
I'm not picking on you. I sincerely want to help. HTH Otto
