Formula for sequencing numbers

I have a list of numbers in Access that I need to keep for different
reasons. These numbers are somewhat in order, but some skip. From now
on though, next sequence of numbers on the form can be in order. This #
field is not an autonumber, so is it possible to have a formula to have
the next number in sequence appear automatically in this # field. Any
ideas??

You can't do it directly in a table, but you can use a form. On my website
(www.rogersaccesslibrary.com), is a small Access database sample called
"AutonumberProblem.mdb" which illustrates how to do this.
