I transfered my .MDB file from one computer to another. When i open the DB
on the new computer I can create tables, modify them etc. However,i can't
create new forms or reports. the icons are greyed out. If I copy it back to
the original computer it works fine. I can perform all funtions.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks
Nelson

My first guess: Are the versions of ACCESS the same on both PCs? If not,
you'll need to convert the database to the version that is on the PC in
order to let you make changes to forms/reports, etc.

Thanks for the response, I moved the DB to a network share out on one of our
servers. It is still being opened from the original computer, the file just
doesn't sit on the HD of the original computer anymore. we are using Office
2003, on a W2K PRO OS...

Thanks again in advance

I'm not understanding -- is the problem happening after you put the DB on
the server? Or is it no longer a problem now that you've put the DB on the
network?

once I move the file to the server I can no longer create forms or reports.
Even if i open the DB from the same computer.

If I open lets say personel.mdb on computer 1 and the file is on computer
one it opens fine and I have full functionality.

However, if I move personel.mdb from computer 1 to server 1 and then try to
open it on computer 1 off of the server drive I can not create new forms or
reports. i can still access the old ones that were there, print them utilize
them etc... however, the button to create new forms and reports is grayed
out. It is very odd because if I mover the .mdb file from the server back to
the HDD on Computer 1 and then open it on computer 1 I have full
functionality again.

I have a db on my computer. I can open it from my computer and it works
perfectly.

Recently a new reg came out saying all DB files must be placed on the
Network Server. So i moved the DB from my computers HDD and put it on a
network drive. When i go to open it from my computer off of the network
drive I lose all functionality with creating new forms and reports. The old
ones are still there and I can do whatever i want to them. I just cant create
new ones.

The twist is that if I copy the same .mdb file off of that network share and
put it back on my HDD and then open it from my HDD I have full functionality
again.

I hope this is a little clearer, Sorry for the confusion and thanks for the
help you are providing. i truly appreciate it...
